"I first met Gary in the 70's when we appeared on the same bill in a
famous cabaret club 'Jollees' in Stoke on Trent. I admit to never
having seen his act!
The next time I saw Gary was in 1988 and I went to a holiday centre
in Cornwall to explain what I wanted him to do in 'That'll be the
Day'. I don't think he quite grasped what I was after but he was
persuaded to give it a go and we made arrangements for rehearsals.
Neither of us knew it but Gary was destined for TBTD.
We hit it off straight away and his enthusiasm has never waned since. He could move, had a great voice and only had to walk on stage to get an audience on his side. On top of that he had an uncanny accuracy when impersonating. We have developed an understanding as a double act comparable to any I've seen. He is a great talent and a pleasure to work with and part of the backbone of this show."
